Slowing Down Can Make You More Productive

As you are using the summer months for your renewal, consider taking care of yourself first. We frequently think that we are responsible for taking care of others and the work we do before ourselves. “First things first” to me means to take a look at ourselves first. It is easy to skip your own needs and make sacrifices for the sake of others. This sacrifice will not only prevent you from living the life you want, but you will be unable to effectively take care of others as you would like.

Slow down and write down your responses to these reflective questions.

  • Why do I feel the way I do about my life and work?
  • What am I assuming about my future?
  • Do I really have control over the outcomes or does someone else?
  • Am I working for something I really want?
  • How many hours of sleep do I average each night? Is that sufficient for the energy I need?
  • What do I eat to maintain an energetic body and brain?
  • How much exercise do I need to treat my health well?

These questions can clarify whether you are living with made-up stories or the truth about you. As you clear your thoughts you open up new possibilities for yourself, family, and the work you do.
